Top Safety Accreditation for Hillbans Pest Control
Hillbans Pest Control has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises
extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.
The company’s application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a
uniform standard across the business. SafeContractor accreditation will enhance the
company’s ability to win new contracts, and its commitment to safety will be viewed
positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.

We support the Wight Squirrel Project providing much needed funding, expert advice and publication sponsorship that works to protect our native red squirrels and their habitat.

Fact File: Wasps
- Appearance: Large buzzing insects with yellow and black striped, wasp-waisted bodies
- Species: More than 100,000 species
- Size: 10-15mm
- Weight: 1 gram
- Lifespan: 12-22 days
- Habitat: Common wasps generally build their nests inside something, other wasps build their nests in bushes, trees, hedgerows and even underground
- Why control them? Wasps will attack and sting, this is a cause for concern if you have small children or pets
- How to control them? To get rid of wasps you do not need to remove the nest, but you do need to treat it. Hillbans Pest Control have the technical knowledge and the access to a range of professional insecticides that are not available to the public. We can even treat wasps nests that are at inaccessible heights!

How To: Get Rid of Fleas
Spring has arrived, and with it brings the warmer weather. Unfortunately, this warmer weather also means that flea season is officially upon us!
If you find a flea on your cat or dog, there could be an infestation on your pets and around your home. Adult fleas are only a small percentage (around 10%) of the total population of a given infestation, so although you may think that treating your animals will get rid of the fleas the flea eggs and larvae will continue to be living in your home.
Below are some tips on how to combat those pesky fleas:
Treat Animals – if you think you’ve got a flea problem then start by treating any animals in the property, consult a veterinarian who will help you to choose the most suitable treatments.
Hoover Daily – hoover daily to ensure that any eggs and larvae are removed before they develop into adult fleas. Ensure that after hoover is emptied thoroughly to prevent the eggs from hatching and infesting the hoover.
Wash Bedding – wash any bedding, clothing, blankets, towels and soft furnishings weekly on a hot wash. If your furniture has removable covers then make sure you wash those as well.
Book a Flea Spray – Hillbans Pest Control Ltd are able to offer flea sprays for domestic and commercial properties. We use professional flea fumigations for flea control; which allows us to treat a property far more thoroughly and effectively than store bought DIY products.
